On August 1st, 2024, we will celebrate a significant milestone in our scouting community as Chil marks 32 years of exemplary leadership. Chil’s journey began in 1992 when she and Christine Francis re-opened our group after a brief closure due to a shortage of leaders. Starting as an Assistant Cub Leader, Chil’s dedication and passion for scouting were evident from the very beginning.
Recognizing the need to expand opportunities for younger children, Chil took the initiative to open the Beavers section. This expansion laid a strong foundation for our group, allowing us to nurture and develop future scouts from an early age.
In 2012, following Christine’s retirement, Chil stepped into the role of Cub Leader, a position she held with distinction. Over the years, Chil has worked tirelessly with all sections, organising numerous camps, events, and activities that have enriched the lives of countless scouts.
Chil’s impact on our group is immeasurable. Thanks to her unwavering commitment, we now have a large and very active team of leaders—the most we’ve ever had.
Transition to a New Chapter
As Chil steps back from active scouting to pursue other interests, she will continue to serve as Deputy Group Scout Leader. In this role, she will manage administrative tasks and provide support whenever needed due to leader shortages, ensuring the continuity and stability of our group.
A Heartfelt Thank You
She would like to extend her deepest gratitude to all the parents, both past and present, for their unwavering support of our group. Your involvement and encouragement have been vital to our success. She would also want to thank our fantastic leadership team for their hard work and dedication. Your support has been invaluable, and together, we have created a thriving and dynamic scouting community.
As we celebrate Chil’s incredible 32-year journey, we look forward to continuing our scouting adventures with the same spirit and enthusiasm she has always exemplified.
Please join me in saying Thank you, Chil, for your remarkable service and leadership. Here’s to many more years of scouting success!
